Getting Started With PlaybookOS

A step-by-step guide to help you get started with the new PlaybookOS system in DocJuris.

Overview

PlaybookOS represents the next generation of contract analysis and review within DocJuris. This enhanced playbook system builds upon the foundation of our legacy playbooks while introducing powerful new capabilities designed to streamline your contract review process.

PlaybookOS transforms contract review with granular task management, scenario-based workflows, and natural language tagging that makes contract analysis more intuitive and efficient than ever before.

Key Advantages Over Legacy Playbooks

  • Granular Task Management: Instead of opaque checklists with unclear numbers, PlaybookOS creates specific, actionable tasks that tell you exactly what needs to be done
  • Scenario-Based Workflows: Handle complex contract variations with layered scenarios that adapt to different business units, jurisdictions, or negotiation positions
  • Natural Language Tags: Improved discoverability using intuitive, natural language rather than complex search syntax
  • Enhanced Organization: Topics and scenarios provide clearer structure and hierarchy for better navigation
  • Streamlined Editing: Generate markups directly from AI instructions or example clauses with improved accuracy
  • Better Context: Rich internal commentary and external negotiation guidance integrated directly into your workflow
PlaybookOS is currently available to select customers only. At this time, users cannot directly edit their PlaybookOS playbooks. Our team is actively working on releasing this capability. Until then, please contact your Legal Engineer or Customer Success Manager (CSM) to request any updates or changes.

How to Use PlaybookOS

1. Open a Contract

2. Apply a Playbook

You can "stack" or add both classic and PlaybookOS playbooks—but only PlaybookOS will generate a task list.

3. Open the Task List

After applying a PlaybookOS playbook, you'll see a pop-up window in the upper right to "View Tasks"

  • Click "View Tasks" in the pop-up to open the Task tab and automatically dismiss the pop-up

Clicking the prompt is more efficient than navigating to the Tasks tab manually.

4. Review your Tasks List

  • Click on a topic in the task list
  • Observe the new topic structure and hierarchy in PlaybookOS
  • Use the arrow buttons to jump to the corresponding section in the contract
  • Below the topic, you'll see related SCENARIOS

Example Topic Structure:

  • TOPIC: Governing law is outside of the United States
  • Scenario 1: Software delivery is in the U.S.
  • Scenario 2: Software delivery is outside the U.S.
Collapse all scenarios initially, then expand only the one that applies—this keeps your workspace tidy.

7. Use DocJuris AI Commands

When a task suggests making a clause mutual, more favorable, or balanced:

  • Go to the relevant contract paragraph
  • Click the ✨ icon (multi-select if needed)
  • Choose the applicable AI command
  • Clear selected if you multi-selected
  • Mark the task as Closed

8. Add a Missing Topic + Section Numbering Behavior

If you need to insert new language:

  • Decide where the new clause should go
  • Click into the start of that section
  • Type a heading (e.g., "Confidentiality") and press Enter to create space
  • Drag and drop the clause from your playbook, or paste it in manually
  • Add external comments as needed

Section Numbering Behavior:

  • If the original contract uses auto-numbering, DocJuris will adjust automatically
  • If manual numbering was used, section numbers must be updated manually—just like in Word
With manual numbering, it's often easiest to add new content at the end of the contract or include it as an addendum.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Task-driven workflow provides clear, actionable guidance
  • Scenario-based logic handles complex contract variations intelligently
  • Natural language tagging improves discoverability and usability
  • Seamless integration with AI Commands for enhanced editing capabilities
  • Empowers both legal and business teams to streamline contract review with precision
